So I was very bad at school. I was super horrible, but not in the way that you think. Ever since the fifth grade, I had this nasty habit when getting ready for school. You know those days: somebody wakes you up, you rush to get dressed, and then out the door you go. Well, when I got out that door, my feet wouldn't take me to school most days. They took me to where I thought I should be.
Yes, that got me into a ton of trouble growing up. I wasn't bad at school in an academic sense—I just had a problem showing up.
It's been about a week, I'm back at the house now. All things said and done I am focusing a majority of my time on FolioEngine now. I'm hoping to have the application launched in eight weeks. What will I do after FolioEngine is shipped? I'll work on an Learning Management System(LMS). I'm hoping for GradePoint and the LMS to be under one subsidiary. Just all of my EdTech software. FolioEngine will be it's own seperate entity paired with various other software that is similar. The developmetn will start tomorrow, what will happen tonight? I'm going to build another pc. Just got a new case so I am getting some old parts out.
Enough about FolioEngine, what about the LMS? What will the LMS consist of? And is it self-paced? Yes and yes. The LMS will be for basically everyone. The MVP at it's core for the beta launch will be focused on: history, math, science, and english literature. The LMS will always be in active development. I'll try to add courses every 4-6 weeks. We'll start off with the basics, how modules will be. I don't know if I want to add any videos or not yet. We first focus on FolioEngine then cross that bridge when we get there.
I'm taking a break from the internet iuntil I have a beta build of FolioEngine ready, what exactly does "taking a break" mean. I'm staying off TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. It's that simple for me to focus on delivering an application I need to focus on the application itself. I'm stepping away from the merch store posting for a while too. If you have read my previous blog posts then you will understand why. GradePoint has been an amazing project to work on albiet it has also been very stressful considering everything currently going on in my life. I think a simple Micro-SaaS will do the trick in getting me out of this rut.
The FolioEngine platform will be free to use. There will be a subscription service if you want more of a white-label feeling to it, I'll be charging around $10 a month. I made the decision to put GradePoint on the shelf for now because it is too big of a project to do without funds. Now, with that being said it will take me roughly 6-8 weeks to get FolioEngine built and ready to launch. Where as I have been working on GradePoint for over three months. No, the project isn't going anywhere. I think GradePoint is amazing. I just don't have the time or motivation to pour my soul into something so large when I cannot afford to keep it actively running.
I think it is time for me to put GradePoint on the shelf as a project for now and focus on some Micro-SaaS development. I am doing this because that is a lot for a solo developer currently. I keep writing down other projects too. I have been workign on a small micro-saas called FolioEngine which I hope to be launching soon. What is FolioEngine? FolioEngine is a multi-tenant portfolio builder. Yes, you heard me. This is for businesses or corporations. This is fo rthe little guys. The freelancers, the photographers, the people who want to showcase their work digitally.
I've been building the catalog for the merchandise shop for about a week now. It's mainly focused around "SQL Robot" which is the mascot for my YouTube Channel. Along with SQL Robot, I also have seasonal merchandise and a mental health section called "Feelings are Hard". I've always wanted to start a brand and these are the two I have settled on currently. I really hope I will be able to expand brands/styles in the future but we shall see. I'll be dropping various products every week which I am so excited for! As a founder/entrepreneur I want to be able to sink my hands into anything I can get. A lot of people who go into this mindset usually stick with one product.
There comes a point in a man's life where he is tired of everything, this is called "functional depression". This kind of depression is where if it goes on for too long there is two things that will happen: they will kill themselves - or two they are so sick and tired of being tired. They don't want to be around anyone and more importantly they don't even want to be around themselves. I am the second option. I really don't have nothing to lose when building GradePoint or working on my brand/content. I've been locked in my room until somethign gives or I give. There is no other way. I'm not doing this because I am motivated. I'm not. I haven't slept properly in days. I just had my first meal in three days. You know what that was? Boiled beans and flour flitter/fritter(whatever it is called).
I have been wanting to do something for a very long time. I was creating content on YouTube, TikTok, and Twitch as a gamer. Those days have been over for a very long time, haha. I;ve been wanting to rebrand myslef as a developer for a while, come back into the scene as something more than a forgotten gamer. I was on call witha friend the other day when we got to talking it somehow landed on the conversation of creating content. He's been doing this for a while, we used to make videos together. One thing led to another and I decided I am getting back inot content creation also. Not as a gamer, but as a Relational Database Application Developer. There is a few goals I have in mind though. I'm starting from scratch again, this time I have a chance to actually do something productive.
I was on call last night with a life-long friend who has been doing YouTube Content creation for quite some time now. We decided we are going to start a podcast. So we took the name of my blog. Our first episode is being recorded tonight. It should be uploaded Tuesday. Our first episode will ber about cryptids/paranormal things along with old memeories and goals for the future. We're not going into this to make money. We're going into this so people can see why we are who we are. All that matters is the friends you make and the choices you choose along the way.
It's okay not to be okay, you're not weak for that. Reaching out for help is the strongest thing you can do. It takes time but things can be and will be better. I remember growing up it was hard to be heard, so I remained quiet. I still do this is my adult life. Socially, I only speak when spoken to when I go on outings. That kind of sucks, I wish I knew what to talk about. Have you ever been so alienated that you don't know how to start a basic conversation? I have, I understand. Today, it took me an hour just to roll out of bed and start my day.
My girlfriend sent me a song today, I'll link it here in this post. It's called Bloodline, as soon as she sent it. I loaded up PipePipe (the opensource community knows) and hit play. It was a great tune, I will admit that. The words is what got me. Where you come from is not who you are, it's okay to move forward, you don't have to do it alone...
This is "Late Nights, Late Vibes", where I focus on Mental Health and the harsh reality of being a Founder.
